Art Projects

This year, we are excited to present three unique Choreography Art Projects and one Performance Project as part of the festival. With online casting, video-based learning, live rehearsals, and group performances at the festival’s gala shows, this is a perfect opportunity for growth, inspiration, and community building. We can’t wait to see you there!

1. Budapest Raqs THEATRE w/ Mercedes – ONLINE & LIVE

Join Mercedes in this exciting project where participants will learn her beautiful THEATRICAL ORIENTAL choreography through pre-recorded videos, then perform it with her live on stage at the festival after a final in-person rehearsal. To apply, submit a performance video (no older than 2 years). Only 10 dancers will be selected for this exclusive opportunity. Performers must be available in Budapest for live rehearsals, starting no later than the morning of May 6th.

2. Budapest Raqs FOLK w/ Ahmed – ONLINE & LIVE

This project offers the chance to learn a dynamic SAIDI WITH ASSAYA (Egyptian folklore) choreography from Ahmed Refaat via pre-recorded videos, culminating in a live performance with him on stage. After a pre-show live rehearsal, participants will take the stage together. Submit a performance video (no older than 2 years) to apply. Up to 10 dancers will be chosen for this experience. Selected performers must be in Budapest by the morning of May 6th for rehearsals.

3. Budapest Raqs FUN w/ Gulden – ONLINE & LIVE

In this project, you’ll learn a cool SHAABI choreography by Gulden Fatkulla through pre-recorded videos and perform it with her on stage. After a live rehearsal before the show, you’ll join her for an unforgettable and fun performance. To apply, submit a performance video (no older than 2 years). A maximum of 10 dancers will be chosen for this project. Selected participants must be in Budapest by the morning of May 6th for rehearsals.

Registration requirements: 

- Full Pass or min. 2 Day Passes on the festival 

- with a separate fee of 150 EUR / 1 project, 250 EUR / 2 projects

Fee includes: pre-recorded videos of the choreography, one feedback/review session (live or recorded), 3 hours of live rehearsal in Budapest, stage performance with the instructor on the main Gala Show, photos and videos of the performance 

Fee does not include: costuming (group can decide to use existing costumes or create new ones specifically, please be ready for both options)

You only pay the registration fee for the project after being selected.

You can take part in one project, if you have any other performances on the festival, or two projects maximum, if you don’t have other performances. For more info please read Conditions in the Stage Registration menu.

Performers are requested to be available for live rehearsals in Budapest latest from the morning of 6th of May.

Opening of the registration: 20th October. 

Closing of the registration: 10th January

Deadline of feedbacks: 20th January
